Dynamic thromboembolic risk
Several studies refine prediction of ischemic stroke and bleeding in atrial fibrillation. Recalculated CHA2DS2-VASc and HAS-BLED scores during six years of vitamin K antagonist treatment improved outcome assessment compared with baseline scores, while a landmarking model used time-dependent variables and Fine-Gray competing-risk methods to dynamically predict thromboembolism and bleeding in patients receiving direct oral anticoagulants (38460882; 41147381). In patients undergoing mitral valve transcatheter edge-to-edge repair, direct oral anticoagulants and vitamin K antagonists were compared using a composite of ischemic cerebrovascular and bleeding events (39895535).

Stroke treatment and recovery
The stroke-focused papers evaluate secondary prevention, acute ischemic stroke treatment, and neurological recovery. An outpatient study assessed adherence to antihypertensives, antiplatelets, and statins after ischemic stroke, whereas a real-world study evaluated evolocumab on a background of statin therapy during the acute phase of ischemic stroke using lipid target attainment and major adverse cardiovascular events (38218048; 38063944). Mechanical thrombectomy was described in a vertebrobasilar occlusion case with bilateral sensorineural hearing loss, and deferoxamine was examined for early neurological improvement after intracerebral hemorrhage using serial NIH Stroke Scale measurements (39644154; 40418029).

Heart failure risk and treatment
Heart-failure studies address prognosis, body size, treatment implementation, and therapeutic selection. In acute heart failure, beta-blocker use was evaluated in relation to NT-proBNP and mortality, while cohorts of patients eligible for cardiac resynchronization therapy and patients with acute HFpEF or HFrEF examined BMI in relation to mortality and other outcomes (39015043; 39031161; 40012479). The SwedeHF registry assessed use of renin-angiotensin system inhibitors or angiotensin receptor-neprilysin inhibitors, beta-blockers, mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists, and SGLT2 inhibitors during the first year after HFrEF diagnosis, and a cost-effectiveness analysis compared ACE inhibitors with ARBs (39783801; 39252272).

Diabetes and atherosclerotic disease
These papers connect glycemic regulation, insulin resistance, lipid handling, and cardiovascular outcomes. In diabetic ApoE-deficient mice, liraglutide and ipragliflozin were tested separately and together for effects on atherosclerotic lesions, while a Hong Kong cohort examined whether initiating a DPP-4 inhibitor below versus above an HbA1c threshold affected HbA1c variability and major clinical events (38626913; 38802991). The ARIC analysis evaluated triglyceride-glucose-derived indices as predictors of cardiometabolic multimorbidity comprising diabetes, stroke, and coronary heart disease, and a prospective study assessed left-ventricular diastolic dysfunction in normotensive patients with type 2 diabetes (41468367; 40452345). In macrophage experiments, dapagliflozin combined with alirocumab reduced CD36-associated lipid-droplet formation and altered lipoprotein lipase activity more than either treatment alone (40990667).

Vascular biomarkers and imaging
Studies examined measures and models related to vascular injury, cardiovascular risk, and ischemic stroke. Aortic stiffness in the Rotterdam Study was analyzed as a predictor of coronary heart disease, stroke, cardiovascular disease, and mortality across age and sex groups, while post-COVID-19 research measured endothelial-colony forming cells and angiogenesis-related proteins at six and twelve months after infection (39196691; 38324145). A ceramide-based CER24 score was evaluated against the CERT1 score for predicting a composite outcome of all-cause mortality or nonfatal myocardial infarction in patients with suspected or known coronary artery disease (40685265). For acute ischemic stroke imaging, a symmetry-based segmentation method integrating 2.5D ResUNet and 3D nnUNet was developed to segment ischemic lesions on non-contrast CT scans (40908314).
